I-538: Certification by Designated School Official

Use Form I-538 if you are a student on a temporary (non-immigrant) visa and wish to apply for permission to accept temporary practical training employment. A designated school official must also complete and sign Section B of the Form.

I-539: Application to Extend/Change Non-Immigrant Status

Nonimmigrant aliens present in the U.S. use Form I-539 to request extensions of their authorized stay in the U.S. or to change nonimmigrant status. The spouse and child(ren) of I-539 applicants may join in the request for extension or change of status if they are physically present in the U.S. at the time of filing.
